Response to Outbreak of a Highly Contagious Disease |

The University shall respond immediately to the occurrence of a highly contagious disease in the university community. In the event that this illness is identified by Cal Poly’s Health Services, all legally-required procedures will be followed in notifying San Luis Obispo Public Health Department.. In addition, Health Services, or any department that becomes aware of a possible occurrence of a highly contagious disease in the university community, will notify the President's office, the campus Risk Manager, the head of the EOC, the Health and Safety Officer, Housing and Residential Life, and the Public Affairs Office to inform them of the situation. To minimize the spread of a highly communicable disease among students, employees, and/or visitors on campus, San Luis Obispo Public Health Director’s recommendations and/or directives regarding the reduction or cessation of campus activities to reduce the spread of diseases. Such communication shall be
received through the established systems between the County Health Department
and the campus Health Services and/or the The President’s Management Staff shall act as the
Policy Group in support of all University efforts. |
