Career Services’ |

The mission of Career Services is to assist students with developing and implementing career plans. It fulfills the mission utilizing the expertise of its staff and through partnerships created with academic departments and colleges, Student Affairs departments, student organizations, employer organizations and professional associations. |

Career Services |
|
|
Career Services provides a variety of programs and services to support Cal Poly students seeking career, part-time, Co-Op, summer, intern, and graduate or professional school placement. Career Services provides the following programs: |

630.2.1 |
Career Counseling and Planning: Career counseling, use of computerized
career guidance systems, skill and interest inventories are available to
students. In addition, a wide array of
printed and electronic-based career planning resources is available through
the department’s |

Student Employment: The department works in cooperation with campus offices to provide assistance to employers, students and alumni with on- or off-campus part-time and seasonal employment. It also works with the campus Financial Aid Office to advertise all Work Study opportunities. All opportunities are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. |

Cooperative Education: Assistance with program orientation, registration, and placement in an assignment is provided through department services. Career Services works in cooperation with all academic departments to monitor student participants while on assignment and to insure the career-relatedness and academic integrity of the off-campus experience. |

Career Employment: Through a variety of delivery systems, students are assisted with the job search process which includes clarifying their career objectives, exploring the full range of employment possibilities and effectively presenting themselves as candidates for employment. In cooperation with faculty, department staff will actively develop employer relations, promoting university programs and graduates. |

Graduate and Professional Schools: Career Services will assist students planning to attend graduate or professional schools upon completion of their Cal Poly experience. Services include advising, assistance with research and exploration, and assistance with the application process. |

Graduate Survey: In cooperation with academic departments, Career Services administers the annual graduate survey to the most recent graduating class. Results are published and distributed to campus departments and made available to current and incoming students. |
